ISS Grade 6: Mr. Catanzaro LA/SS

Fevik Maritime Leirskole

As part of the sixth grade curriculum, students will travel for one school week (5 days and 4 nights) to an outdoor education school.  This outdoor education, Leirskole, is a great opportunity for students to learn teamwork, hands-on skills and responsibility outside of the classroom.  It reinforces the middle school philosophy of educating the whole child, body and mind.

Since Norway's two most beautiful and prominent physical features are the seacoast and the mountains, middle school students will travel to a maritime leirskole in 6th grade, and a mountain leirskole in 7th grade. Their middle school leirskole experience culminates in grade 8 with a skiing leirskole.

The sixth grade will once again be traveling to Fevik Maritime Leirskole on Monday, September 28 and returning Friday, October 2, 2009.  Mr. Cox, Mr. Catanzaro, Ms. Lakin-Miller, Ms. Uddenberg, Mr. Stoelting, Mr. Riedel and Ms. Wallace will all be accompanying the students on the trip.  We look forward to sharing more details with parents at the upcoming Open House.
